The City of Pawtucket and The Camera Werks proudly announce the 23rd Annual City of Pawtucket Photo Contest! Twelve winning photos will be selected by a panel of local professional photographers and placed in the 2022 City Calendar. This year’s photo contest judges include Butch Adams, Richard Benjamin, Christy Christopoulos, Peter Goldberg and Aaron Usher. This annual contest provides an opportunity to bring awareness to the daily life, historic locations and the ever-changing landscape of Pawtucket through the lens of a camera. The contest is open to residents and non-residents alike, but the photo must be taken in Pawtucket. After a public call for photo contest themes was advertised in January, a record-number of 50 contest themes were received from the general public for consideration. “Uniquely Pawtucket” submitted by Sandy Benson of Pawtucket was selected for this year’s photo theme. Contest Rules: All photo submissions should follow the contest theme and must be taken in the city of Pawtucket within the past year. Only one entry per contestant will be accepted and must be submitted by the photographer entering the contest. Photo entries may be taken in color or B&W, but should be shot horizontally, since winning photos will be used in the City of Pawtucket Calendar. All photo submissions must be uploaded in JPEG format and should be of high quality and high-resolution dpi. Digital cameras or cell phones may be used to take your photo. All photo entries will be exhibited on the City of Pawtucket website, www.pawtucketri.com. Submissions should be email to [email protected]. Deadline for entry: Friday, August 6, 2021. All twelve winning photos will be used in the City of Pawtucket’s 2022 Calendar. The Mayor’s Choice Award will receive a $100 cash prize. First Place will receive a $75.00 cash prize. Second Place will receive a $50.00 cash prize and other remaining winners will receive gift certificates. Winners will be announced via video on Sunday, September 26, 2021 by Mayor Donald R. Grebien at 4:00pm. Video may be viewed on city website at www.pawtucketri.com on or after 4pm on that date. All winning photos will be used in the City of Pawtucket’s 2021 Calendar. Pawtucket: A City in Focus All photos must be taken in the City of Pawtucket within the past year. Only one entry per contestant submitted by the photographer. Photos may be in color or black & white, shot horizontally. Film or high quality digital prints will be accepted. All photos must be of good quality and suitable for reproduction. Submitted photos should be mounted on foamcore or mountboard, but not framed; overall size of the mounted photo should not be smaller than 8”x10” or larger than 12”x18”. All photos will be displayed at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center during the City of Pawtucket’s Arts Festival in September. The Mayor’s Choice Award will receive a $100 cash prize. First Place will receive a $75.00 cash prize. Second Place will receive a $50.00 cash prize and other remaining winners will receive gift certificates. All winning photos will be used in the City of Pawtucket’s 2020 Calendar. These are some pretty awesome videos and pictures. I am entering the field of photography, and I do not have any relevant experience yet. Sure, I might not have any experience, but I can do a pretty good job. I can see that you are a great photographer as well, in fact, I admire your work. If it is not too hard, will you kindly take me as your apprentice? I wish to learn more about photography from someone as good as you.
